Lazy Day Chic: The Trench Hack

chic plus size trench coat black and white

Don’t you all know by now that I am super lazy? Like, if I need to dress up nicely, I am horribly pained to do so. I would say my style has definitely simplified over the years. I used to want bold pops of color and this or that accessory, and a different pair of shoes every day. Not so much anymore. (More to come on my mini-minimalist cutback soon.)

My daily uniform pretty much consists of black leggings (magic pants, is what I like to call them,) an oversized t-shirt or sweater, and an oversized cardigan or jacket of some sort. Here’s where the trench hack comes in!

If I wear a plain black t-shirt (pictured above) with leggings and tennis shoes, then I am meh. I’m not necessarily looking BAD, but I have a lot of pulling together that I could be doing. (I am a fashion blogger after all!) But…if I put on a trench coat over this very same outfit…magic. It looks like I am a cool, chic girl who can’t be bothered to dress up, but looks pulled together and stylish because…TRENCH COAT. It’s miraculous. I suggest you grab one if you don’t already have one! I prefer this open front kind, mainly because my fluctuating weight won’t make a difference, but also because it shows off whatever shlubby t-shirt I am wearing that day nicely.

If you want to really up the celeb vibe, add a big scarf and some majorly oversized glasses. You could hire someone to follow you around and photograph you too…but that might be confusing, expensive, and…sad.
