tips for surviving the morning

I wake up in the morning at 6:29 AM. Just a moment before my alarm clock goes off, and I am awake and ready for the day. I take my time getting ready, curl my hair, apply my makeup perfectly, make a big breakfast, sip tea while petting my cat…

And then I ACTUALLY wake up, after my snooze button has been pressed so long that the next time it goes off, I will have to run out the door. I throw my hair up in a bun, forego the makeup for the day, and have to grab some breakfast to eat in the car or at work. I continue to look like I’m actually sleeping until around 11am. (See below.) I’ve decided to accept the things that I can’t change!

Here are my tips for surviving the morning. These are especially helpful to those (like me) who are not morning people whatsoever!

Shower the Night Before: What are you going to do while you are asleep that you’re going to get dirty? Shower before you doze off, and wake up in the morning with one less step to take. #winning

Set Your Clothes Out: It might sound like something you would tell your elementary school child, but there is a reason for that! It’s because it takes the guesswork out, and allows you to just put on your clothes and move on with your morning. On top of that, you can put together a much cuter outfit than you would if you were running around like a crazy person to leave on time.

Join the Bun Life Club: I’m a VIP member. My bun is an extension of me, but with good reason: IT’S SO EASY! You don’t need to curl or straighten, or wash…yeah, I went there. Pull the hair up on top of your head, twist it around, wrap an elastic around it for security, then pin all the pieces that are out of place. Your face will still say you’re sleeping, but your hair will be messy-chic.

Eat a Good Breakfast, Even if it’s On the Go: When I am having one of those days, which is probably 90% of the time if I’m honest, I am glad to have a go-to breakfast that I can easily eat on the go or at my desk.

The belVita Breakfast Biscuits are a morning saver for me! They keep me going all morning, have a lot of different varieties, and are so easy to grab while running out the door. A banana, some yogurt, and belVita Golden Oat Breakfast Biscuits, and I am ready to take on the day.

My favorite ones are the Blueberry Biscuits, but the Mixed Berry Mini Biscuits are a close second!

What tip do you have for those non-morning people to help survive the morning? Do you love belVita Breakfast Biscuits just as much as I do?

  1. Ha! You had me with the first paragraph. I was going to say – I wish I was like that.

The soft baked banana bread biscuit sounds delicious. I am going to check them out. #client

  2. I am not a morning person at all! Breakfast seems to always be on the go. I am going to have to check these out!

  3. I live in a pony-tail most days, lol. The only thing I hate about showering at night is going to bed with wet hair. Those biscuits I am going to have to find! My kids get a bit slow in the morning sometimes, so these would be great to send to the bus stop with them.

  4. I am joining you with my hair washed last night, messy because I slept in it wet so now it’s in a bun on top of my head style for the day ;) Also belVita biscuits are awesome! Chocolate is my favorite. They have saved my rear so many times. I like to keep a couple packs in the car in case we’re running out the door and I forget to make breakfast.

  5. Great tips! I started taking a shower at night a few years ago- I think I sleep better in clean skin. :) Those biscuits look so good- the airline served those as a snack on the plane last week, but hubby got mine since I have a gluten allergy. Oh, well.

  6. I don’t do mornings either. I really function best at about 9PM truth be told. You have beautiful eyes.

  7. I’m sharing your post with my oldest daughter. She likes to cut it close when she’s leaving for work too. ;)
