Some of my very favorite posts and videos to see are “What’s In My…” I love to be nosy, but I also gain some inspiration for my own purse, cabinet, travel bag, car, refrigerator, etc. Today I am going to show you what’s in my medicine cabinet. You will notice it’s pretty pared down, so I’ve also included a step by step tutorial on clearing out the mess and making your medicine cabinet useful and tidy.

This all started with my Breathe Right® Nasal Strips, no joke. My husband and I share a bed, but I swear sometimes he wants to shove me off! I’m a mouth-breather, and if I have a cold the sounds at night are WAY worse than usual. Since Breathe Right® Nasal Strips are drug free, they are safe to use with other cold medicine. I’d say this is pretty lucky, because my poor husband deserves a good night’s sleep!

One night, he was especially disturbed by my nasal congestion. I got up to search for my strips and couldn’t find them ANYWHERE. My medicine cabinet was a mess, but so was I. I had to drive out to Walmart in order to buy more Breathe Right® Nasal Strips for his sake AND mine. When I got home, I read the instructions in the package and put the strip on and it was smooth sailing from that point on. I KNEW I had to clean out my cabinet and get myself sorted out!

Applying the Breathe Right® Nasal Strips. You apply the strip just below the bridge of your nose so the tabs go on the flaring part of your nostril. Make sure your nose is clean and dry. Rub the strip to secure it on your nose, and you can feel it working immediately! In the morning, just wash your face like normal, and the Breathe Right® Nasal Strip comes right off.

How to Clear Out Your Medicine Cabinet – Necessities Only

  1. Take everything OUT of your cabinet. It will really be symbolic later on- when you only put back in the things you absolutely NEED and LOVE.
  2. Do an initial sort to remove products that may have gone bad or expired, that you had a bad reaction to and will never use again, or anything else that would warrant something being completely thrown away.
  3. Go through your day to day steps in your head. Put the things back into the cabinet that you use often in your routine.
  4. Think back to some of your more commonly used medicines/products that you will use often, but not daily. I like to think of ibuprofen, antacids, etc. for this category.
  5. Put in some special items that you want to use more often. I am talking 1-2 items that may have been more of a splurge for you. I am talking about that expensive face mask or serum that you use only on fancy occasions.
  6. Re-home the rest of those things. You can store them if they really are things you will use again, or give them to a women’s shelter if it’s cosmetics you no longer use or need.

The whole point is to not over-stuff your cabinets so that they are easily accessible. If I can’t reach my favorite face wash in the mornings or my Breathe Right® Nasal Strips in the evenings, I know my cabinet has gotten a bit out of control.

  1. Not gonna lie, kinda disappointed with this post. Felt it was a sneaky way to do a promo post for Breathe Right Strips. It was very misleading because I hoped to actually see what was inside the medicine cabinet but all it turned out to be was a bunch of stuff turned around with the Breathe Right Strips front and center. If you’re going to do a sponsored post, I think a little more honesty up front would be appreciated. :(

    1. Thank you for your comment! I do take honesty and full disclosure seriously when I do sponsored posts. I usually do a few a month to keep my blog up and going on it’s own. I would like to point out that the first sentence of my post is a disclosure for the sponsorship. I don’t know another way that could be less “sneaky.” If you think of something, let me know!
