Motivation & A Mani: 5 Tips to Embrace the New Year

Since I am always quite the type to love the new year (as I shared yesterday,) I never really think about what it really MEANS to embrace the new year as it comes to us. I know that I feel strongly about it, but if I were writing a letter to someone to help them out, what could I really tell them about embracing something new and refreshing, such as a new year? How could I relay to them that even though you don’t ACTUALLY get a do-over in life, the beginning of the year is the closest thing to a reset that we all freely receive? I think I found a way to wrap it up quite a bit. Check out my tips below for embracing the new year!

5 Tips to Embrace the New Year

  1. Say YES More Often. Oh, and Say NO More Often, Too. I mean, say yes to things you would usually say no to but be dying inside to agree to. Say yes to those things that scare you, but you know it’s going to improve your life in the long run. Say no to those things that you just do not want to do. Say no to those things that do not serve you at all anymore. You don’t HAVE to do them! Stand your ground.
  2. Know Your Worth. As people, we often get bogged down because we typically know all our own faults, right? We know each little thing we can do incorrectly, but this also gives us the POWER to change and move forward. Know you are worth more than you give yourself credit for! Look at the things you’re great at and give yourself a pat on the back. This will also give you the ability to look at the things you know you need to improve on, and take the time to invest in and develop yourself!
  3. Make a List & Check Things Off! Whether you want to call this list “Resolutions” or not, it’s important to write your goals out and keep track of them. You will gain confidence as you see your list getting smaller, and you will stay on track by having the things you wish to accomplish written out for you.
  4. Find Intention in Everything You Do. I say this, because as grown as people, we do a lot of things that we don’t really want to do. If you can pick out good things to learn from the menial or the annoying or the average things we do daily, then you can breathe easy knowing you have intentionally improved your life. Do I want to go to a manditory class to learn how to get a job as a requirement of my unemployment? No, I don’t! (REALLY, I don’t.) BUT if I can focus on one thing I want to learn and can apply to my life moving forward, I can say it wasn’t a waste like I might have just thought it to be before! Do all things with intention!
  5. Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself! It’s easy to beat yourself up for those things you’ve not done as well as you know you could have. It’s easy to focus on that failure and use it as a reason to clam up and NEVER try to do anything ever again, but you can’t do that! Take this year, and realize that your failures are opportunities to gain a study guide to your own life. Take those failures and learn from them, intentionally try and try again, and once you get it right, you will feel much better for taking control of your own life and lessons. Just remember, most good things take time, so be patient with yourself!

#MANIMONDAY

I think this year is going to be OUT OF THIS WORLD, which is why I have chosen to ring in the new year with the Color Club nail polish in Blue Heaven. It’s an awesome holographic color without the fuss of those kits or the expense of having someone else do them. I hopped in my car last night and without a light on my nails were BLINGING at me. I snapped these pics (above L without flash, R with flash) and I think it proves just how shiny and amazing this color is!
