My summer weekends are filled with barbecues. It’s not unusual to just drop by my parent’s house on a whim just to steal their delicious cookout food! This weekend I was a good daughter and brought all the food! (It was Father’s Day after all!)

Since food was my choice this weekend, I decided to switch gears from everything overindulgent and greasy to balancing healthy with delicious. In general, that’s the way I live my life, so I may try to push it on my family members as often as possible! Can you blame me? I want them to stick around for as long as they can.

On my menu was burgers, fruit and veggies, and some potato salad, and when I think burgers, I think Giant Eagle Market District. When I go up to the meat counter, there are generally 2-5 different kinds or flavors of burgers. They are ALL delicious, but the Cheddar & Bacon Burgers are the BEST. When I went up to order some over the weekend, I was so sad to see they didn’t have them in the window! I was thinking of settling for plain burgers, but decided to just pipe up and ask about them! The man behind the counter let me know he needed to make more and could have 8 done for me in no longer than an hour.

To my surprise, I passed by about 15 minutes later and he was done. He recognized my face and got to work on packaging my burgers. That’s some great customer service, so I was impressed. It’s just one of the many awesome things about Market District that I love.

While I was looking around the store and waiting for the burgers, I was able to find the other perfect pieces to complete my meal. Giant Eagle or Market District is great to stock up on great options for grilling this summer. From delicious meats to fresh produce and plenty of ready-made options, you won’t be disappointed. I even got all three ingredients to make the delicious burger sauce below.

I decided that my burger deserved an awesome sauce to impress the family, so I made the most SIMPLE recipe for a burger sauce. Be sure to check out my recipe below for a BBQ Jalapeno Mayo, which featured the Olive Oil Mayonnaise by Hellmann’s. It was perfect on top of the Bacon & Cheddar burgers by Giant Eagle!

I went throughout the store to gather all my other goodies. It’s so easy to get lost in all the awesome things Giant Eagle has to offer in their stores. I knew I wanted to make it easy on myself AND keep it healthy, so I grabbed some fresh fruit and vegetables. The fresh food always looks awesome in the store, and I even grabbed some pre-cut fruit, which seems to be the most genius idea ever. Cutting fruit is always so time consuming, so it’s nice they have it done for you on site.

I decided to get some tea and sparkling water instead of a 2 liter of soda. Pure Leaf tea is always a favorite of mine. I’m a fan of mixing the sweet and the unsweetened teas together to make a slightly sweet version. I also decided to get some Izze Fusions. If you haven’t tried them, you NEED to. They are not too sweet, they are not too bubbly, and they are not too high in calories either!

We tried the Strawberry Melon and Lemon Lime flavors, and they were so refreshing and light! Of course, I can’t really have carbonation, so I stuck to the tea…but I would be lying if I didn’t let you know I snuck a few drinks of the Izze Fusions throughout the day!

Obviously, it wouldn’t have been a really good cookout without a sweet ending! Since it was Father’s Day, and my dad loves dark chocolate, I saw the new Farmhouse Dark Chocolate Chip Cookies by Pepperidge Farms and knew I had to get them for him. I think I liked them better than he did, but they seemed to be a hit all the way around. It was the perfect treat for the end of an awesome day!

Remember to check out the delicious recipe for the sauce below, and slather it on your burgers all summer!
