If you can read this, you are probably looking to save. I can appreciate that, as a woman who is intent on spending $50/week on a family of three. It’s VERY hard. I recently wrote a post about my top 6 tips for grocery budgeting, and one of those tips was to utilize apps to save. I want to expound upon that a bit more in this post, as I had SO MANY people asking questions as to how I actually use the apps to save money and which one is my favorite.

I’ll let the cat out of the bag now, and let you know I am really loving using the Hopster Mobile Rebate app. There are many things I love about it, but I will start you off with the best perk: you get the rebates paid to your PayPal account immediately. You don’t have to hit some special number in order to be able to claim your cash back. How nice is that?!

If you’re interested in learning how I use Hopster in conjunction with my meal planning ritual to save money, then check out my 5 Money-Saving Tips for Awesome Grocery Rebates below.

Check the App for Special Buys to Help Build Your Meal Plan

I sit down with my planner weekly and map out the meals I am going to make for dinner and on the weekends. When I am trying to draw inspiration, of course I look at Pinterest, check out my favorite cookbooks, but I also love to whip out my phone and open the Hopster app for inspiration.

If I see something I know I could use for a recipe that has a great rebate, it may be the perfect time to put it on my plan so I can save money, and make an awesome meal. You can also check your favorite grocery store’s ads to see if there are sales on items to add to your meal plan! Double savings if it’s on sale AND in the Hopster app!

Glance Over Your Meal Plan to Swap Brands

After my meal plan is made, I like to open my Hopster app again. I go through all the items on my list to see if any of them match. If I usually buy one brand of cereal but see another is on sale, I might be persuaded to make the switch for some savings. I usually buy BRAND A cheese, but BRAND B is in the app? I buy BRAND B, save some money, and find that I like BRAND B better than A anyway. It’s a win all around!

Don’t Buy Things You Don’t Need

When you open the Hopster app, you are going to see SO MANY awesome-looking things. Things your family may need every week, and things your family may never usually want at all…but the savings will be tempting none the less! One of my main beefs with paper couponing is that so many people just end up with so much stuff that you don’t even want or need.

If your family is on a strict budget, you need to say no to the great deals that don’t fit in your meal plan for the week, but say YES to all the ones that will lower your weekly bill!

Be Consistent in Shopping and Planning

These tips all work best if you are consistent in your meal planning and shopping schedule. I stick to a weekly shop, and Sundays work best for me. I always know Sundays are going to be spent finishing up my meal planning and doing grocery shopping, new rebates have probably been added in Hopster, and I can cut down on the amount of fresh food wasted.

Be sure to get into the habit of getting home, putting the food away, and scanning your receipts into Hopster! You don’t want to forget to scan and miss out on that cash rebate! I’ve done that, and it’s a major bummer.

Get Your Friends & Family Involved in the Savings

I’ve gotten my mom and a few friends in on the savings. It’s fun to talk with them about the savings or the rebates that are available. It just makes the whole process more fun, and even gives me a competitive edge. I always want to save more money than my mom, but she’s just way better at buying the things on the app than me!

START SAVING WITH HOPSTER REBATES. It’s so simple:

1. Choose your rebates from a large selection of brands
2. Shop at your favorite store (any store will do!)
3. Take a picture of your receipt showing the items you purchased
4. Rebates will be redeemed and the cash credited to your PayPal account as soon as the redemption is validated. NO NEED TO WAIT TO REACH A CERTAIN NUMBER OR VALUE OF REDEEMED OFFERS!

If you’re interested in saving your family money in your grocery budget, and getting a sweet kick back of rebates all from your couch, check out the Hopster Mobile Rebates app. It’s simple to use, quick to send you the cash back you earn, and can make the hassle of grocery budgeting much easier.
