While everyone around me is so sad that Christmastime is over, I am getting super geared up for the new year. I’m a true Capricorn at heart, so whenever I get the chance for a clean slate, a reason to make some new rules, or to revamp anything in my life, I am in it 100%. I’m so here for resolutions! I love making them, love hearing them, and love writing about them. This time of year is the best, so I am trying to soak in every last bit of it that I can!

This year, I’ve partnered with Don Victor® Honey to talk to you about wholesome new beginnings, and bring you a delicious Iced Honey Latte that is SURE to get your creative and organizational juices flowing! Don Victor® Honey is raw, filtered honey, not heated or processed in any other way. Read on to see my 5 best tips for ringing in the new year followed by my delicious iced honey latte recipe!

Reflect on the Last Year

I’m sure there were things you loved about the previous year, as well as things you wish would have turned out differently. Whether looking back on your past year is full of joy or full of regret, it’s still necessary to move forward, make a plan, and execute that plan to your fullest extent. Take the time to sit down alone or with a loved one to just think about how far you’ve grown, things you feel you could progress on, and things you’ve overcome in the past year.

Think About Traits That You Wish to Embody

We all have things that we aspire to. For me, I am working on being more understanding and generally more engaging. In years past, I’ve had to work on everything from patience to, ahem, reeling in my *bossiness* that can sometimes be overpowering of the personalities around me. Whatever you want to put out into the universe, be that vibes or your truth, then think about those traits and how you can implement them in the next year. Hopefully when you reflect on 2018, you can say that you greatly improved yourself in those areas!

Write Out Your Resolutions

Don’t just THINK your resolutions. It’s best to get them written down somewhere. I have them on my blog for the past few years, but I usually always have them written in my planner, odd places, printed out, or all-together thought of as a mantra. If you journal, put it there. If you can only muster a sticky note or jotting it down on the notes in your phone, do that! Do what you’re comfortable with, but make it a point to make your resolutions important enough to be remembered.

Hold a Planning Party

I’m a huge fan of crowdsourcing, and as we grow older, we get the opportunity to really explore and utilize the talents of our friends and family. If you have a friend that’s great at budgeting and that’s something you want to work on, you may as well tap into her thoughts and ideas to help better prepare yourself! You probably have something you can lend her back as well! That’s why I LOVE the idea of having a little planning party!

You can bring your girlfriends together to chat about their goals for the new year, get input on your ideas, and figure out if there is a way you can execute them that you may not have thought of. Another form of planning party that I like to have is with my husband so we can get on the same page about goals for our home, family, finances for the year. You can make it a fun date night so the chats don’t seem too serious either.

My favorite idea is just having a fun, caffeine-fueled brunch. Since it’s in the new year, you can focus on a lighter menu, but you definitely need coffee! I recently created and am LOVING this Iced Honey Latte! It’s lightly sweetened with Don Victor® Honey and the comb is used on top for texture, unexpected sweetness, and it looks awesome, too! You can find the honey in the Hispanic foods isle at Walmart, and you can’t miss it, because it includes the beautiful comb inside the jar of honey.

Did you know you can consume honeycomb? You can! It’s got a really cool texture and pairs GREAT on a cheese plate, if you’re really looking to impress your guests. Check out my recipe below to see how I include it in my Iced Honey Latte!

Set Your Plan in Motion

I not only like to spend time planning what my resolutions will be, but planning out how I am going to get to those goals. So you have the overall goal, but it’s much easier to consider all the smaller things you can do to make that goal a reality. The sooner you plan out your roadmap to success, the easier it will be to achieve your goals, stay on track, and celebrate your small victories on the way there!

  1. First of all, that latte looks delicious! Second of all, I love the idea of meeting up – makes everyone so much more accountable when others know about your plans!
