Behind every woman, there is a signature look. I can’t say that mine is anything fancy, but I have had so many people asking me how I do my everyday hair lately! I am ASSUMING they don’t wonder how I throw my hair up in a dirty messy bun, so I am going to be sharing my every day wave with you today in collaboration with Schwarzkopf Gliss™ Ultimate Repair, found at CVS Pharmacy.

This hair style takes all of about 5 minutes for me at expert speed. I think your first few times will only take 15-20 minutes, but you will get the hang of it in no time and no matter how long or thick your hair is, you’ll be able to do it in 10 minutes or less! Read on below to see how I care for my hair, since heat styling can be taxing on your locks, and then how I style my hair- complete with a video!

HAIR CARE & REPAIR

Heat styling and even bun-wearing can take a toll on our hair! Sometimes damage takes on a form you don’t even see right away. I don’t know about you, but I can’t commit to being heat free, so I want to do my best to take care of my hair despite my styling habits. For me, it all starts with a quality shampoo, conditioner, and deep conditioner. I enjoy using GLISS® Hair Repair™ Ultimate Repair, which won the Allure Best of Beauty Award – best shampoo & conditioner for damaged hair.

All the lines of Gliss have incredible hair repair abilities. Hair loses keratin over time, and Gliss has hair-identical keratin, giving you a strong, smooth look! I use Gliss regularly to keep my hair repaired and looking it’s best.

Another thing you should do when heat styling is make sure to use a protectant spray or oil. This puts a barrier between your hair and the heat, making the damage less and the Gliss Hair Repair Ultimate Repair more effective!

HOW TO CURL YOUR HAIR FOR 5 MINUTE WAVES

After you have prepped and protected your hair, you can begin to section the hair off. I do 3 sections, because you don’t need to use tiny little bits of hair to get this look. I just do the bottom, middle and top thirds all together.

The technique of the curl is going to be that you take a few inches of the section, wrap it loosely around the wand AWAY from your face 2/3 of the time. The other third of the time, you will put the hair TOWARD your face to make sure there is some definition and separation to your hair. See the video below if you’re having a hard time envisioning it. (Don’t worry, I would want a video for reference too!)

Once you work your way through all 3 layers, alternating between away and toward your face, you will then get out your straightener. YES, you heard me right! For this look, I like to have the ends of my hair hang straight instead of being curly. This just gives a bit more of a loose, casual look, and I love it!

To finish the look, you can spray your hair with a hairspray or dry texturizing spray. If you have an oily scalp or you plan on wearing your hair for a while without washing (like I do,) you can hit it with some dry shampoo at the root!

That’s it, you’re done! How simple is that look. It only takes 10 minutes tops, and will be the easiest hairdo you have ever tried. As far as heat styling goes, it’s a great one because you don’t need to leave the heat on your hair for long, and you can use a low heat for straightening the ends since you don’t want them to be too straight or perfect anyway.

  1. I have not heard of this brand before and am actually on the hunt for a new heat protection product. I will grab some on my next CVS trip ???

  2. Great video! I will be trying your technique tomorrow! I am challenged in the area of curling my hair. Thick hair that never holds curls is very frustrating! I’ll have to try out these products as well.

  3. I am suuuuuper digging this look. I also just ran out of my conditioner so I’ve been looking to try a new shampoo/conditioner. I’ll definitely be giving this one a shot!

  5. I’ve never heard of this brand before either, but I’ll have to give it a try! You look so cute with the loose waves, Britt!
