FAMILY ROAD TRIP – LOEWS CHICAGO DOWNTOWN

LOEWS LOVES FAMILIES

After the awesome night we had at Loews Chicago O’Hare, we were well-rested and ready to head downtown for a bit more of a high-energy day and a half. We had a lot in store, including an art museum, lots of food, and some sneakerhead destinations.

We were SO excited to arrive at the Loews Downtown Chicago. The hotel is gorgeous, in the heart of downtown, and I just stayed in a constant state of AWE over the view!

When we arrived, the hotel staff had a Discovery Kit ready for Clara, which was part of the Chicago Discovery Family Package. The backpacks are specially made to help keep kids entertained and to keep track of adventures! Inside the kit is a Scavenger Hunt booklet, backpack, journal with colored pens, compass, water bottle and sunglasses!

Can you imagine how much fun a kiddo would have with these? (Spoiler: my baby couldn’t really enjoy it for what it was, but she IS OBSESSED with the stuffed cow. Plus, she has a cousin who will love the adventure pieces!)

We headed out for dinner after getting settled in. We had never been to Shake Shack, and it didn’t disappoint! Once we returned, our hotel staff had milk and cookies delivered as part of the Family Road Trip package. Our baby had a nibble, but Mom & Dad got to enjoy a bulk of the cookies. (Life hack: order the cookies after the kids go to bed? HAHA)

We realized we needed a fan because we have a sweaty sleeping baby, so we just TEXTED the front desk to see if they had one available. They brought a nice Dyson fan to the room minutes after the request, and we were able to get our warm little lady off to bed. After Clara went to sleep (in the crib they provided), Brett and I got to relax and and plan our big day in the city. It was a good, relaxing evening!

The next day, we had breakfast delivered bright and early (since we got complimentary $30 toward a meal and free kid’s meal with the Family Road Trip Package.) They also have wonderful dining options within the hotel, and if we had a longer stay we DEFINITELY would have tried them out. (The rooftop bar looks AH-mahzing.) Our family ate, then fell back to sleep (we needed it!) We woke up in time for brunch, walked around the corner to Yolk, then set out on our city adventure!

We decided to leisurely pop into shops, grab some popcorn for the trip home from Garrett’s, have a late, snacky lunch, and then we made our way to the Museum of Contemporary art to see the Virgil Abloh exhibit, which DID NOT disappoint! I will be sharing a post soon about taking babies to art museums, so if you are interested in how we planned that trip, be sure to come back!

After the museum, we did some more wandering and found the NikeLab Re-Creation Center c/o Virgil Abloh. Can you tell we are fans? It’s right next to the 5 level NikeTown store, but seeing all the shoes being recycled, the open, creative vibe, and some special items you can usually see in store was so awesome! I even grabbed a pair of new Air Force 1’s…go figure.

Once we made it back to our car, we were exhausted and ready to get home! We made a pit stop for a late dinner, came home, and all went to sleep pretty quickly! We were able to take Monday off, and let me tell you…it was much-needed. We were so thrilled with our weekend, and we cannot thank the Loews Hotels enough for partnering with us on this trip.

  1. Your hotel stay looked absolutely fabulous! Loews really knows how to take of families the right way!! It’s like they thought it everything for y’all – which is so much more than other brands do.
