2020 NO SPEND OVERVIEW

When I was starting my planning for 2020, I knew this coming year was going to be different. I want to focus on sustainability and loving what I already have. The idea to have a “no spend” year popped into my mind, and I couldn’t get it out.

I immediately starting talking to my husband and best friends about the prospect, and then naturally, I turned to YouTube. I knew some people must have been doing the “NO SPEND” thing in years past. I just wanted to gather some information.

I ended up finding the book, “The Year of Less” by Cait Flanders. It was a quick, good read and it cemented in me that this idea is something that I not only CAN do, but WILL do with a joyful heart- not with distain.

If you’re interested in hearing me talk about my plans, how, why, etc, then be sure to watch my YouTube video on the subject.

Video Notes:

  1. NO SPEND on clothing, accessories, makeup or shoes for myself.
  2. Mindful spending on home items and for my family benefit.
  3. Side hustle/resale allowed in moderation.
  4. Replacements are okay, but only on an as-needed basis.
  5. Continued support/partnership with local boutiques.
  6. BONUS: No buying Starbucks for myself!

  1. Oh my goodness! This sounds so stressful, have you thought about using more reusable products like diapers, wipes, cotton rounds, paper towel. I switched and have saved sooo much money!

    1. We already use many sustainable items! It’s actually not even mostly about saving for me. I am working on contentment, not running to shopping to cure boredom, and saving will be a pro as well! It’s not for everyone, but I like a challenge!
