LUNCH AT LAKE WAWASEE

Welcome to the first look at our weekend at Lake Wawasee: Lunch at the Lake! This post is in collaboration with Moody’s Butcher Shop and Caskata Tableware. Special thank you to Kate Ruddell from Into Indy and her family for the accommodations, and Kaylee Creighton for the beautiful photos and table styling.

LUNCH AT LAKE WAWASEE

Kate’s family has a beautiful home on the lake. It was so great for them to open it up to us! I had a great time helping to prepare lunch, and when it comes to serving lunch- there was no better spot than on this beautiful glass table on the porch! The black and white mix-matched pattern plates really makes a statement, so you don’t have to work too hard on plating and styling, but the pop of color from the arrangements Kaylee made were MUCH needed on our table.

In showing this set of plates I’ve already had so many questions on them, but they are the Casablanca set by Caskata.

GRILLMASTER BRITTNEY

I love to cook. I think that the girls were so surprised that I actually cook as much as I do when were were all getting ready for the weekend. I decided to take on the task of becoming the grillmaster for our lunch at the lake. I grilled up bratwurst, chicken leg quarters, and chicken breast.

I didn’t season the brawts, because Moody makes them perfect as-is, but I seasoned the chicken simply with salt & pepper on the underside, then liberally with Shoup’s Seasoning (from my hometown, my absolute favorite seasoning!) I cooked the chicken low and slow to get a good smoky flavor and keep the chicken nice and juicy. I think we were all impressed! The chicken was amazing! I’m not a natural griller, but luckily I am instinctual, so we got it done right.

Outfit is a swim cover up from Walmart! I cannot find it online for the life of me, but I got it on sale in store for $13 just last Friday! It comes in size XS-3X, so you can try to see if they have it in your local store!

IN LOVE WITH MEATS & CHEESES

I first heard of Moody’s when they were having an influencer event to share all about their shop and what they offered with us. They got me HOOKED on their Chicken Bacon Ranch sausages and I knew it would be so fun to partner with them for this trip to the lake!

Moody’s spoiled us with all their best products, including a variety of meats and cheeses and sauces for a charcuterie tray for this trip! It was fun to see Kelli of Big Hair and Foodie Fare hard at work on a passion of hers: making meat & cheese trays! She did a beautiful job, all the cheeses and dips and salads were DELICIOUS, and we came out of lunch with all heart eye emojis. It was a great meal!

Here are some things they included for us:

  • Blue Cheese (Wrapped in Grape Leaf!)
  • Mimolette Cheese
  • Spreadable Gouda
  • Assortment of Sliced Sausages/Salamis
  • Crab & Spinach Dip (Amazing.)
  • Pretzels & Crackers
  • Indiana Spicy Beer Pickles
  • Blue Cheese Stuffed Olives

We added in fresh fruit to brighten up the plates and give a sweet break in the salty flavors. We used cherries, grapes, and raspberries, but you can use any fruit you have on hand. Strawberries, blackberries, and pineapple would be nice additions as well!

I’ll be sharing our surf & turf adventure (LIVE LOBSTER, PEOPLE!) within the next week. I also learned how to make a blue cheese crust for a steak, which is something I never even thought to do at home!

Be sure to check out Kate, Kelli, and Kaylee‘s social media to see what they post about the weekend at Lake Wawasee as well!
