WHY WE HAVEN’T STARTED OUR NURSERY YET

WE HAVEN’T STARTED OUR NURSERY WITH 10 WEEKS TO GO…HERE’S WHY

This post is anything but glamorous. I tell you, since we have begun our debt-free journey, we have had a LOT of things thrown at us. IRS bills (yes, multiple!,) totaled car, and getting pregnant have been the largest of those. Among the setbacks, we have had some AMAZING accomplishments and wins. We have both gotten raises, bonuses, unexpected checks, and we have had the opportunity to rent out a room in our home to one of our closest friends.

Now, it’s not always the easiest having someone live with you! (Just as I imagine it’s not the easiest to live with a married (and pregnant) couple.) We make it work, and it’s benefiting us by allowing us to pay for our monthly doctor bill without strain on our usual finances, continue to work on some debt, and build up a stock pile of cash so that we will not have payments to make on a hospital bill after our little girl is born! It’s benefiting our friend by allowing him to save up for his wedding in December and their new life together.

So there you have it: we haven’t started putting our nursery together because there is a strange man living in the baby’s room. ;) Since people have been asking to know what we are doing, I just wanted to let you know the situation, how it’s a WIN for us, and how we will still have plenty of time to get the room set up when he moves in September.

For now, we are staying organized by using my closet to hang her clothes, a huge box in our breezeway for collected diapers/hand me down baby gear, and some tubs in our dining room to hold the things we are picking up or people are giving us along the way. We have a bag made up of hand-me-down clothes that we plan on washing again once we have a place to store them.

I told you, it’s not glamorous, but it works! We have a crib stored that was from when our nephew was a baby, I bought a white, fuzzy rug (obviously) and we have some ideas for the nursery, just nothing concrete yet! I’ll definitely do a little tour of the room once we have it done and talk you through all the parts, since we are doing this on such a SMALL budget!
