EXPERIENCING MORE – WRITING FOR A LOCAL MAGAZINE

Image is a flatlay of the magazine article titled "Mama Knows Money" it has text on the left and a side profile of Brittney holding a MacBook on the right side.

I’ve been captivated by the journey that Arianna Cruz, the founder of MORE Magazine, has gone on to create and grow such a beautiful magazine. After reading articles, leafing through magazines at some of my favorite places, I finally bought my first copy of MORE. (Issue IV) I was beyond excited to see a call-out for “mom content” from Ariana in a local Facebook group. When heard that Issue V was “Generations,” I knew that it’d be a great time to jump in and write. It had been a while!

Mama Knows Money

When given the option from a couple of topics, I knew that finance was something I could talk about for hours or days, maybe even months. Initially I had been set up to interview someone else, but my true blogger self decided to go the essay route. Since the issue was Generations, Ariana urged me to interview my mom–and I am SO glad she did. It was great to talk with my mom about her financial foundations and get her gut-check on my side of the story. I found it interesting to hear how her mind was processing things when she was around my age and raising three children.

Photo Shoot Magic

It was SO fun to meet Indianapolis transplant and insanely talented photographer, Sharon Wai. She performed MAGIC inside the Selfie World in Indianapolis. Her energy was infectious and we were fast friends, which helped me feel comfortable. It didn’t hurt that I had Sharon and Arianna hyping me up the whole time. (For real, hire these ladies as wing-women when you need an extra boost!)

You can access my article here. The magazine has sold out, so unfortunately you cannot purchase a copy. Contact Arianna if you’re a writer and want to contribute to a magazine that will value your voice. Follow along on Instagram for MORE!
